Happy Holidays

It’s the holiday season again, and I’m back in Texas for an extended vacation to soak in some 80-degree-heat. It doesn’t feel like anything close to winter here, so I had to dig into the depths of YouTube to find something to liven up the mood this afternoon. Introducing U900–a band consisting of two crocheted characters with a little bit of ukelele splashed in. Here is their rendition of John Lennon’s Happy Christmas (War is Over), which is absolutely wonderful. Their stop-motion videos are nothing short of uber charming, so be sure and check them out as well.

No-sew placemat project on CraftStylish
This was actually one of the very first projects I did at Taunton when I started working there a couple years ago. It’s now on the CraftStylish blog and you can download the motif I designed for the project. All of the how to is available as well. It was... Continue Reading

Me as Rachel
Instead of waiting an entire year to post about my Halloween costume results this time around, I’m actually posting them in a somewhat timely manner. One month isn’t too late, right? I’m still healing from the injuries I received from that night, so I’m assuming it’s still cool. (Note to... Continue Reading

Getting ready
I somehow just realized what time of year it really was. Last night I began my Thanksgiving cooking, without any concern given to my allergy or wheat intolerance. I’m having way too many guests to keep my guts in mind. A dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free Thanksgiving doesn’t leave very much to... Continue Reading

Copying a replicant
I’m getting a bit of a jump-start on Halloween this year. Last year I was Jane Fonda from the movie Klute and made my entire costume from scratch, however it actually didn’t take me that long. This year I’ve decided to spend a little more time on my ensemble, and... Continue Reading

Artist Yu Yu Art and her tiny creations
Despite my Southern upbringing, I don’t have any plans to get married any time soon. Although if I did, I would most definitely get my cake toppers from Yu Yu Art who makes delightfully intricate characters from roving. Check out their flickr for more photos of their work, including adorable... Continue Reading

Tiny Chucks for Tiny Daniel
It might be safe to say I’m a little obsessed with Chuck Taylors. I have approximately 10 pairs in almost every color, however I almost always wear one of my two favorite pairs. You’d think my pair of orange ones were part of my anatomy since they were attached to... Continue Reading

Playing Santa
Please pardon the horrible photo above. It was taken with my phone moments before the box was closed and handed over. Work has consumed most of my life this holiday season, however I was able to squeeze out a present that I was actually proud to give away this weekend–my... Continue Reading
